BTAK Student Travel Grants

BTAK Symposium 2018 offers up to five travel grants to students on a competition basis. The selection of awardees will be decided by the Local Organizing Committee.


For receiving an award, one should comply with the following requirements:

  1. The applicant must be a student at an institution at the time he/she attends the symposium.
  2. The applicant must be full-time student enrolled in a Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. program in Biology, Ecology, Geography, Geology, Geomorphology, Paleontology or related field, in a college or university, when submitting the application.
  3. Undergraduates and early graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply.
  4. During the expenses reimbursement stage, the student applicant should provide the proof of having registered to attend the BTAK Symposium.

Each award, representing symposium expenses (registration fee, accommodation and meal) reimbursement, is up to 150 EURO. A Student Travel Grant awardee must attend the symposium in person. Payment will only be made to the student if the award recipient submits the expenses report (with receipts) within 30 days after the symposium.


The application package should be submitted by email to: The application package must include the following:

  1. A support letter from the student's advisor;
  2. Student’s CV;
  3. A half-to-one-page letter including the following information:the date of enrolment in the Bachelor/Master/Ph.D. program and the expected date for graduation; the motivation of the student to attend the symposium, how the symposium would impact his/her research outcome and how it would improve his/her scientific experience.

Please note that the applicants are encouraged to make their travel plans without depending on award notification.
